1975 to 1979: Studied in the Faculty of ‘Theoretical and Applied Linguistics’ at the University of Leipzig (then known as the KMU, Leipzig) 

1977 to 1978: Foreign study year at Charles University in Prague as part of my undergraduate course 

1979: Graduated as a translator and interpreter in Russian and Czech 

(Degree dissertation:  The Czech transgressive and its translation into German) 

1979 to 1991: Employed as an interpreter and technical translator at VEB Flugzeugwerft in Dresden 

Duties:  Translation of technical documentation, such as repair manuals, operating instructions, etc. (specialising in aeroplane maintenance); interpreting during conferences, scientific symposia, technical consultations, contract negotiations, etc. 

Since 1991: Freelance translator and interpreter 

1994: General swearing-in by the President of Braunschweig Regional Court for the Russian, Czech and English languages.
